mikej Posted July 2, 2009 Report Posted July 2, 2009 They sell them in halfords also, they are crap in my opinion having tried one and at Quote
marinabrid Posted July 2, 2009 Report Posted July 2, 2009 fully agree i used to run a motor spares shop and sold these. tried one myself and ended up overfilling it, the engine was just about cutting out with the strain , i let some out and cured it however just had to be regassed by a proper man with a van id let it nearly all out.however if you really want to try, get one with a gauge on, remove the nearside indicator and you will see the filling port, unscrew the capp attach the can with the gauge on and usually the needle will show how much if any gas is in there, you then inject the gas till the needle is inthe correct area on the gauge. Scorpiorefugee Posted July 2, 2009 Report Posted July 2, 2009 Again, don't bother. Go where you can get a full check for a few quid more. I believe that the only way to do the job properly is to suck it all out and put back a measured amount which rather makes these tins, which only contain about about a quarter of what you might need, look useless. I bought one and still have it, part full. I eventually went to a specialist who teted it, diagnosed the problem and refilled it after repair, all for Quote
mikej Posted July 2, 2009 Report Posted July 2, 2009 Quote remove the nearside indicator and you will see the filling port ????? Sorry is yours the MK1 or MK2 if it's the later galaxy then i believe its filled via the alloy aircon pipe at the front of the engine bay don't know what the score is with the MK1 . :P Quote
big blue Posted July 3, 2009 Report Posted July 3, 2009 i have a 2000 (W plate) MK1 diesel - i found the filling port hiding behind the drivers side indicator.Remove the TORX screw holding the indicator to the headlamp - and the indicator slides forward and can be removed - the fill port is just inside the hole.Yes i have used one - and they do top up the system, but they are more handy to check the fill level rather than filling the system.
