Guest smurf Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 Hi Allcan someone please help? I have a 2002 ghia galaxy with climate. And i need to remove both the c/c and the silver surround have already removed the radio and the tork screw behind it holding the surround but to no avail and cannot find any other retaining screws, Also would have thought the c/c would just slide out as i cant find any clips holding it in?The reason for all this is to fit a phone kit on a bracket any help would be good  chris Quote
Guest nimrod Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 Isnt there two screws up behind the cup holders that you get to once they are removed, theres a bezel around the cc panel that needs to be removed first before you can get to its retaining clips Quote
Guest smurf Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 Thanks for the reply Nimroddont suppose you know how the cup holders come outAnd whats a bezel??? thanksChris Quote
Guest nimrod Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 bezel- trim around the CC panel IIRC the CC has its own trim that hides its mounting clips, try gently prizeing it off! :D pull the cup holders out and you should see a retaining clip that stops it pulling out, hold the clip down with a small screw driver it should pull out? one of the MK2 owners should be able give you more details, I'm only a lowly MK1 owner  and am going on limited experience from playing with MK2's in the breakers to see what I can find that worth having! Dally Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 smurf The Climate control bezel is the plastic frame that covers the screws that hold the CC panel in. It does look as if it is one unit but if you take out the stereo, you will see a lip on the top of the cc panel - gently prize it off (it just clicks in and out of place). Quote
Guest smurf Posted March 24, 2004 Report Posted March 24, 2004 Many thanks guys, Have today received my phone bracket from dashmount. Unclipped the trim on c/c, undid the two retaining screws, fitted the bracket and then with a slight mod on the trim to allow for the bracket, Refitted it and i must say it looks quite the part!!!Thanks again for the advice <_< Quote
Taliska Posted March 29, 2004 Report Posted March 29, 2004 Wow, taken the centre dash out tonight and that took a long time! Lost the radio pullers between now and when I last used them 10 years ago so had a fight with a set of screwdrivers... Couldn't get the cup holders out of the silver surround, which is actually more of a cage for holding everything in place... Got to that stage when I was getting frustrated, so simply unscrewed the two screws above the cup holders and pulled everything out. Have faith - it was easy to unclip the cup holders from the surround when the whole thing was pulled out - putting it back was was simple. However it was getting dark so really couldn't see very well outside, so have pushed it all back together fairly loosely so that I can work on it again tomorrow (or whenever). Taliska Quote
