taylor2 Posted June 22, 2009 Report Posted June 22, 2009 Hi, Hopefully someone can help me. I just installed a new 2 din radio. It work for a couple of minutes then all of a sudden I turned it on and the power went. After doing some investigating, I found the the red ignition live has no power. The constant is ok. I can wire the radio directly to constant but it will always be on. I have checked the obvious fuses and the are ok. Has anyone else come across this problem or do you have any advice about a different source for power. Thanks Quote

RADIOTWO Posted June 23, 2009 Report Posted June 23, 2009 Hi Again hard to explain, but on some of the newer cars they have a system that uses a central comuter to run the diffrent things in the car, and (in simple terms) it has a wire running round the car for the power and the computer tells the light (or what ever) to turn on etc. http://www.aa1car.com/library/can_systems.htm Have a read of this, bit heavy reading but might explain better than I can. but to get to your problem your radio might need a "can-bus" adaptor to talk to the computer to turn on or off the radio, I think last time I saw one for sale it was about Quote
