Hi im new to ford galaxys i have just got a 2.8 v6 the problem is the head gasket is gone. its missing and when i got home last night it overheated any way when i looked at it this morning the bloke i got it from had unplugged the temp gage and the temp light and one other plug (not sure what this one did but i was next to the other 2) my question is i know i will need to get the head skimmed but do they tend to crack? thans for any help

It is more likely to be a coolant leak from the thermostat housing than head gasket failure and the misfire will probably be the the plugs/leads/coilpack.

 

Suggest you remove the undertray, refill the cooling system, plug all the plugs back in and look for the leak under the car or from the expansion tank overflow.

Hi thanks i did plug the plugs back in and fill the coolent up and it didnt overheat on the 10 mile run i gave it but it did run at just over half way on the temp gage however when i stopped you could hear it bubberling away in the header tank. i will put plugs ect in it tomorrow and do a compresion test. thanks for the help
