Guest lawton Posted March 21, 2004 Report Posted March 21, 2004 I am just buying a 2000 (old shape) Gal Ghia TDi auto from my firm, but the standard fit 2007 stereo & CD Changer does not seem up to much. There is not much quality or bass and it does not sound like 4 x 20w with separate amplifier. How can I check the amp is working? Where is it? How do I get to it? Any suitable upgrades which still use the stalk controls? - I need CD/ RDS Tuner (not bothered about tape or cd changer).I would welcome any tips..... Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted March 21, 2004 Report Posted March 21, 2004 Bin the 2007 and fit a Blaupunkt Woodstock DAB radio, the "52" for around Quote
Guest nimrod Posted March 21, 2004 Report Posted March 21, 2004 The amp is mounted on the gearbox hump under the radio, remove the storage bin under the radio and you should see it ? as Ivor says bin the 2007 unit and get something decent in its place, the only problems would be the amp which can be bypassed if needed to with the correct lead and the column control, of which I dont think anyone does an adaptor lead for? fitting a remote to the steering wheel may not be a good idea! it may get in the way! and depending on where its fitted? if the airbag goes off its rather dangerous! a few after market units do have a remote stalks that can be fitted on the steering column, i have a Kenwood unit that has a infra red remote that straps to one of the existing stalks as my galaxy doesnt have the OE remote stalk  Quote
