nasonjs Posted June 11, 2009 Report Posted June 11, 2009 Hi all, I need some assistance. I recently brought an 03 Ford Galaxy 1.9 tdi LX. I was told it was 90bhp. Engine number 3d09998. It smoked a lot and I found one of the cam lobes had worn out. I have looked around for a used head as this seems the most cost effective way to go but cannot find a 90 hp head. There are lots of 115's. Are they the same they look the same also could I use a seat/vw head from another vehicle Is my engine what they call a PD engine? I have done some research and my engine has the individual injectors so I am presuming it is but do not know for sure. I have called the local Ford garage and a local specialist and asked the same questions but they gave opposing answers Many thanks Quote
insider Posted June 12, 2009 Report Posted June 12, 2009 As an '03 model the originally fitted engine would definitely be a PD type.I'm not sure about the differences in the cylinder head (if any) but there are people with more experience with this on the forum. Perhaps if you post again with a title "Differences between 90 and 115 head?" you might attract some better replies? Quote
seatkid Posted June 12, 2009 Report Posted June 12, 2009 It smoked a lot and I found one of the cam lobes had worn out. Thats because the incorrect oil was used (probably Ford formula E or some other cheap oil) Why not just change the cam - you probably need a new unit injector too (the one on the worn lobe) Quote
