slops Posted June 9, 2009 Report Posted June 9, 2009 We're looking closely at buying a used 2003 2.3L 140bhp petrol Mk 2 Galaxy for our family of four little'uns, ranging in age from 7 to soon-to-arrive. It looks like the bulk of the 'real' Galaxy knowledge resides on this site, so we were wondering: 1. How's the 2.3 for fuel? We'll be doing a bunch of short 'school' type driving, with a few longer tours. Understand that we can't have the best of both... 2. Are there any attachment points for child seats (ie roof/floor bolt holes)? Thanks! Quote
CatherineS Posted June 9, 2009 Report Posted June 9, 2009 Most child car seats now use standard seat belts to secure them in place, but another option is looking around for a spec which has integrated child seats (middle row, either side) as this can save the hassle of buying seperate seats/booster seats and hassle of securing them in place). gregers Posted June 9, 2009 Report Posted June 9, 2009 even if you do not manage to choose a galaxy that comes with built in child seats, you will be able to source them on ebay but they usually go for a few quid, but that is another option to you.do not forget a lot of the parts are the interchangable accross the galaxy/sharan/alhambra range. Lyle Waters Posted June 15, 2009 Report Posted June 15, 2009 I get about 24 to the gallon doing much the same. I agree with the Galaxy's built in child seats/boosters, I have a pair. these will see a child through his/her lifespan from baby through toddler and on. Pull a tab and you have a multipoint baby seat. Pull another tab and presto, you have a raised foot platform and a booster seat. Shame I've never used mine. Quote

Is there a particular part name for these, of are they just 'Galaxy built in child seats'? Standard, or just on some models? Quote
Lyle Waters Posted June 22, 2009 Report Posted June 22, 2009 Not to sure, can soon spot them as they have a red tag in the seat about sholder height plus another in the front by the slider bar, this operates the booster.... Mine were on a 2.3 zetec 03 plate, even the salesman did not know they were there.. Quote
