can any one tell me is changing a water pump on my 1.9 tdi ghia 2000 plate galaxy going to be a nightmare, i am tempted into doing it myself as i aint bad at diy on cars or is it a complete nightmare and better of in the garage,can anyone advise me or has anyone had ago there selfs any advise would be much appreciated as i know what garages charge thanks.

[i did mine couple weeks ago on 2000 mk 1

you have to remove:

altenator

move carefully to one side the a/c pump and p/s pump

as all these componentsare attatched to self tensioner bracket

you then have to remove said bracket 4 nuts hidden in holes in bracket bit trickey but possible( watch you dont lose em when putting it back on)

once all this done water pump can be removed

good luck again not too difficult from what you've said bout your competance

took me bout 4-5 hrs with cofee and ciggie breaks :)

as with all jobs refit is reverse of removal

thermostat can be tricky need 3 hands LOL <_<
