:D My galaxy has an intermittent fault with its parking sensors. This only seems to happen when I put the car in reverse.Sometimes the sensors will work and the next they don't.What i get is a continuous buzzing noise.

I have had the reverse switch checked by my local garage(non Ford) and they say it is ok.

I have also checked all the sensors (front and rear)whilst the car is in reverse and they all tick and appear to be working.

The next step is probably taking the car to Fraud's,but this will be my last resort.

Can anyone suggest anything else?

Also does anyone know how to remove a sensor without damaging it?

Any positive advice would be gratefully received.

did you check for ticking at sensors when the system worked or not check when they dont work

Sorry I don't quite understand your reply.I have checked all the sensors when I get the continuous buzzing sound and they all tick.I haven't checked them when there is no continuous buzzing sound

With the ignition on(acc position) but the engine off, engage reverse or switch on the sessors. Each individual sensor make a ticking sound (like a watch). If one or more is not, tthen it indicates a faulty sensor. Having said that, I had a faulty sensor which ticked away merrily. It is your first test however.

Also you can use VagCom if you have access.

I have needed 2 reverse switches due to internal corrosion, but you can use the switch to activate if that is suspect.

I suspect I have a faulty sensor(s) which still makes a ticking noise.Looks like I will have to go to Fords as I do not know anyone with a diagnostic.

Does anyone know how to remove sensors ??

Get yourself a lead off fleaBay. It's a LOT cheaper!!!!!

I've got one sensor that doesn't tick but I only get a very low sound from parking sensor when engaged initially for about 5 seconds.

Hopefully replacing this sensor will fix the issue, though I did find water under my passenger seat before Ford fixed rear washer.....hopefully the unit isn't totally fried!!

Where can I get "an affordable" replacement sensor? I don't want to spend

I had same problems today - started car - Galaxy TDCI Ghia (away from obstructions), put it in reverse and parking sensors went loopy. Constant police style two tone warning.

Cleaned sensors but no luck. Sensors also checked out OK. I then removed all the plugs from the control modual, cleaned an reconnected - It now works fine (fingers crossed). I do depend on the sensors quite allot as I am on call out in a busy town and forever parking in very small, busy streets.

Guys, I got a similar problem.

Every time I select reverse, I get all sorts of bleeps and buzzers going off, I'm beginning to think that the police are chasing me too !!!

I've tested every sensor both on the front and rear. There is usual ticking sound coming from all the sensors, so I know

these are working okay. I've also checked the wiring on the front bumber - all looks good though.

I've heard of water ingress under the passenger side seat affecting the control unit. There is no sign of water here though.

I need to test the control unit and speaker -  is there any way I can make sure before spending cash unnecessarily.

It might be worth unplugging each sensor in turn to see if one seems to be the cause of the problem, given you've already tested them with the tick test given above.

If you find one causes it to react differently then theres a good chance its that sensor causing the problem.

Given its when you engage reverse it would suggest its the rear sensors at fault?

Might be worth a look with VCDS?

you cannot remove one sensor and expect the car not to notice ......the system go,s loopy and gives a constant whine ....the last one ive got from ebay costs just 10 quid each........its probable to be a rear sensor at fault ,as road crap gets all over the back of them .try a good clean in this area

I had this problem. It's a bad connection where the cables go brittle. Mine is usually at the rear. I wiggle wires and give them a little push back towards the sensor. Turn the igntin off for about 10 minutes then try again.... voila.

I know I need to change the plug but just being lazy. Will do it when it dies completely.

Had to change the plug on the drivers front under the headlight because the noise was doing my head in.

Hope this helps

Has anyone got a VAGCOM around Leicester ?

I can't figure out which sensor is faulty. All the sensors click fine.

Maybe the VCDS will be able pin point faulty sensor or determine faulty parking module.

Can you get a laptop within reach of the car? VCDS cables only cost a few pounds - one example from ebay  > http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OBD2-409-1-USB-Cable-VAG-COM-OBD-Diagnostic-Scanner-VW-Audi-Seat-VCDS-UK-Stock-/181792604553

VCDS or Vag-com is the same cable, either will work with VCDS lite which is a free download.
