Spring Madness! - Lock/barrel Spring

Hi,

I've been dismantling the door handle barrel to try and sort out a few locking issues (ie swapping the passenger barrel with the driver side barrel) and have had a hell of a time with the spring inside the mechanism (ie the one under the paddle bit)

 

Has anyone got any top tips for easy ways of doing this. Thanks in advance.

When I did mine the springs were in bits when I went inside so got new ones to fit. Whats the problem as I found it all pretty straight forward?

Hi Mary,

I've tried to upload a couple of pics of the spring and housing. My problem comes with trying to get the spring located whilst pushing the paddle bit down above it. The times I have succeded in getting it back together there is a huge amount of friction in turning the key - I feel like cutting the 'lug' bits of the spring in half as it seems to be them that are snagging on the sides of the barrel whilst it is trying to rotate.

 

Any guidance would be great.
