n.peckdd Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 Hello Fellow starter suffers, I've been having start-up noises & running noises (in wet weather) on my 99 2.3 Ghia X for a while now. One noise a twitter from the Aux drive belt tensioner (wet noise) the other a squeal from the starter now & then. The tensioner was replaced when the bearing finally seized causing the plastic pulley to melt (designed that way so you cant just slip in a new bearing) the aux belt the goes loose and the power steering, charging etc all go down with it. Got the tensioner (because you cant just buy the pulley!! ) from CES for Quote

n.peckdd Posted June 3, 2009 Author Report Posted June 3, 2009 Thanks for the tip.......I'll connect it up with some jump leads. Quote
n.peckdd Posted June 9, 2009 Author Report Posted June 9, 2009 I'm getting 12.55 V across the battery. Jump leads connected to the starter causes the bendix gear to shoot out. No idea why I cant get it to turn over with the key though?? Quote
