SEVEN UP Posted May 27, 2009 Report Posted May 27, 2009 hi I have a 56 plate mk3 galaxy and the steering pump has just failed ie grinding noise, took it to fords and my galaxy has done 58700miles its a 60000 warranty so has just sneaked in for a free repair "phew" but the main part is they havent just replaced the pump they have renewed the hole system steering rack, pipes, tank & pump the guy on the desk says they had 2 at grimsby(Im in scunthorpe) with the same problem but they dont warrant putting just a pump on because theres metal fileings in the oil filter so it has to have the whole lot to eliminate further problems down the line couldve cost around Quote

lvgal Posted August 8, 2009 Report Posted August 8, 2009 seven up Just out of interest is it a 2.0 tdci with the Electric-Hydraulic steering? Only reason I ask is that my 57 2.0 tdci with EHPAS had a knock on osf tyre and the steering and handling are bloody awful. Some unusual noises from pump/steering rack and car pulls left or right depending on the road. Mines only done 19K. cheers Quote
xtyalis Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 We were getting a mystery grinding noise on our Mk3. My dad identified the problem and topped up the power steering fluid - almost empty. Grinding now gone! Quote
Smilge Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 Good result 7up! I'll have a listen to mine .... Quote
