adding to this problem-was talking to a friend of mine does any 1 know of the rheostat/resistor located behind the glove box that could be the cause?

great help thanks a lot mate.andrew

Just had my KeepKool engineer to re gas my MK1, 1997, 2.3 Galaxy, used him several times and he's been great, but he can't fit it this time, pressure and gas is fine, but air con cuts in and cools to 6C then turns itself off when the car is still very warm then warms up, he thinks it could be a sticky relay as its intermittent, Haynes Manuel and Owner's Guide not a lot good regarding fuses and relays as they don't compare with what i've got. Any ideas.

Best to start a new thread really...

A diagnostic scan should pick it up, it's probably overtemp sensor cutting the system off, have you checked that both fans are working flat out while the aircon is cooling, if not then bingo.
