Hi

I hope someone can help and hope I've posted this in the right section.

I'm a new member and wanted to ask about parts support.

We've had this problem for months. My dad has a 1996 ford Galaxy 1.9 GLS diesel in which the belt kept snapping.

It was because the Alternator mounting bracket was broken.

The problem is, Ford no longer supply this part!

We've checked all the breakers. Eventually had to weld the part together but that didn't last long?

There must be somethig we can do?

Thanks in advance

:angry2: how about trying a fabrication shop (gate makers ect) to make you a copy ?

or ebay - type "Galaxy breaking" into the search and then ask the sellers questions - there are loads of mk1's on there atm

Try a VW dealer, the 1.9 engine is a VW engine, the same one as in the equivalent Sharan. Edited by seatkid

no joy through ebay, trawled through but most of them petrol. Will now try the vw route. Anyone have any tips on how to match my galaxy engine to the correct sharan model?

Engine code (which is part of the engine number) - its likely to be a 1Z type engine (90bhp). Engine number/code can usually be found on the cambelt cover, or on your V5 document or on a large label in the compartment where the jack lives. Phone and ask, say its for 1996 Sharan 1.9tdi, then if it looks hopeful you can take a trip and look at a parts diagram at the dealer.
