Wiper Linkage

hi all,

well i decided to have a go and do the linkage my self, all was going well, got it out of car, which was quite easy to do after reading the threads on here (thanks all), then i checked that the motor worked,and it did so i was happy bout that. then i started work on getting the spindles out,using lots of wd-40 and hammering i managed to break the casting the spindle was in, i am gutting coz now i need to buy a new 1, and the ford dealer, i mean ford stealer wants

mmmm you obviously didnt read up well enough,iirc mumof4 posted about this(aswell as others)about how brittle they are with a big warning about not using a hammer,i know horse/gate and buggered off.is there not a scrappy anywhere near you that might have 1 or have you had a looksie on ebay?look under galaxy/sharan/alhambra,hope you manage to get a cheap fix.

Your not alone there, I did exactly the same and yes the casting broke in the end. I managed to get a replacement through that famous auction site. Cost a little less than

i've heard that at vw the linkage is cheaper, coincidentally I did mine this afternoon - cant believe it was working at all but now I remember how fast normal speed is now .. took just under 2 hours from scatch

really,??? r u sure the vw linkage fits the galaxy??????

most of the cars are the same apart from the petrol engines,about 95% of a ford tdi is vw do a search on here for more info.

dont give ford your money because there stuff is crap.look to a breakers or ebay how many other cars and models have suffered with this problem....not many,if any.

Err Marcostiq, The Mk 1 and 2 Galaxies are VOLKSWAGENS!!! It is the VW design that is crap.

When you read through the multitude of topics on this site, VERY FEW are unique to the Galaxy and don't ever occur on Sharan/Alhambras.

Now when it comes to franchised dealers, (these are not owned by Ford) that is a different story.
