TheJugs Posted May 14, 2009 Report Posted May 14, 2009 I am currently trying to source a donor engine for my 1999 2.3 inj. Someone on ebay is advertising a 2.2 Zet engine, looks the same as mine, but is it ? Didnt think there was a 2.2. Quote
sepulchrave Posted May 15, 2009 Report Posted May 15, 2009 There isn't a 2.2, yours is an updated I4 engine found only in Galaxies, Scorpios and Transits, it's the same engine mechanically as the old 2.0 Sierra twin cam found in late Sierras and early Mondeos. Quote

Does anybody know the engine numbers, I believe there is carb & injection variants, is there a difference between the engines ? When looking I have seen some with a block type unit which the plug leads are attatched to. I assume this is the carb version as its not present on mine. Edited May 15, 2009 by TheJugs Quote
sepulchrave Posted May 15, 2009 Report Posted May 15, 2009 There are also 8 valve and 16 valve variants. However, you want the 2.3 16 valve DISTRIBUTORLESS engine which was ONLY fitted to Galaxies (Common), Scorpios (Very Rare) and Transits (Very Rare) from 1996 onward. If you see one the chances are it'll be from a Galaxy and will therefore fit nicely. Quote

tiny Posted May 16, 2009 Report Posted May 16, 2009 (edited) Many moons ago there was a member on here who fitted a scorpio engine, IIRC it sounded like a pig of a job as various mounting points were wrong. Use the search button, if it helps I think it was about 3 years ago. EDIT I got bored and searched for the thread myself, turns out my memory is a little patchy to say the least, it was the 2.0 engine the op was transplanting. Still, it is a good indicator on how different the same basic engine can be across different applications. CLICK ME Edited May 16, 2009 by tiny Quote
