When I turn on the aircon I have noticed that it makes quite a lot of noise. This appears to be because the cooling fans on the radiator switch on at the same time.

Why??

The cooling fans run when the air con is on as part of the way that the aircon system works.

By default the cooling fan(s) turn on at low speed (about 50%) when aircon is turned on. The noise from the cooling fan(s) is normally inaudible in the cabin (they are only noticeable when on full speed and idling).

So if you hear noise in the cabin, are you sure its the cooling fan(s)? - if its more of a hissing or rumbing/kettle type noise (which tends to come and go as you go round corner or accelerate/brake) then that is the sound of low gas in the system.

The compressor gets noisy when this happens.

The fans cut in to pass air over the condensor, allowing the heat generated by the conversion of the refrigerant from a gas to a liquid to be taken away

I have noticed that when I switch my air con on , you can physically feel it like the engine missing a beat or something else, is this normal ?

Also I am a new member, i notice i have thewords "warn o% and some squares below my details, anyone know why ?

The missing a beat feeling is due to the sudden extra load put on the engine, you will notice it more when the engine is just ticking over!

The warn% blocks are there to let you know when you have pee'd off those with the power (admin/moderators) when they change colour and the % rate rises you know you have been naughty :P you get a pm of the reason why the warning has been given as well :P after a while the % drops if you behave!
