Alloy Wheels Hitting Front Caliper

I bought a set of used alloys off a year older but still MK11 galaxy. Mine is a 51 plate TDi. I put them on and the passengers front one hits the caliper.

 

My first thought was perhaps a buckled wheel so I swopped over the two front wheels and it was the same therefore pointing to a problem on the passenger front hub/caliper whatever??

 

There isn't loads of clearance on the other side but this is strange. Any ideas?

Are they 16" wheels?, the only difference on the calipers is the LHS has wear sensors (if fitted)

its not the inside balance weights is it??.

Thanks for both responses. Richard - the old steels were 16 and the alloys are 16.

 

Gregers - no most def not; it actually took alloy wheel material off as I tried to move forward. It hits the inside of the spokes.

 

As I said, the strange thing is it must be a N/S/F hub caliper issue as swapping the wheels led to the same side having the problem.

 

I've had a look on TIS and there doesn't appear to be any spacer or plates on the caliper assembly.

 

Couple that with the

MK II's built before May 2001 had the same brakes as a MK1. (smaller)

Maybe you trying to fit early wheels over later bigger calipers.

Not all MK11s are the same.

I vaugely remember when getting my early MK2 that I could not get some other style Ford wheels as an option as the 2.8 Ghia had uprated brakes and the wheels I wanted could not be used with them. They may now be using the "uprated" brakes on all models.
