Hi all,

Now the Alhambras up and running, id like to make sure its running its best.

I know the EGR valve isnt working as on acceleration theres smoke from the exhaust although ive blocked the pipe with a screw and its now stopped the smoke from the exhaust (used to have a Toyota Estima that also had a blocked EGR valve and the trick worked on that too).

It does seem the cars down on power and hesitates (also cant hear the turbo spinning!!) by the way its a T Reg Alhambra Tdi 110.

So id like to take off the egr and turbo and give them a good overhauling, well as much as a diy'er can, although i cant find any links or info on how best to remove/overhaul.

can anyone give me some info, and whats best to clean them with etc.

Thanks

Gary

This is Mk2 detail from TIS.

A word of warning. It's a bugger to get at the bottom bolt on the EGR. The rest is easy.

Someone else may have some tips for this. If you have a four year old with small hands and bendy arms you might not have the bother I had. :(

1. Remove the air cleaner. For additional information, refer to

I'd leave your turbo well alone if I were you, there is nothing you can do for it anyway.

You need to check out the turbo vacuum control system and check there are no leaks, that and the MAF are the usual root causes of problems like you describe.

Hi,

Just about to try and fit the EGR powerpipe and had realised that the bottom bolt is in a nice place ! how did you reach it ? was a ratchet extension an option with allen key adaptor ?

cheers,

Matt
