can anybody tell me how the cruise control works please? ie do you have to be doing a certain speed before you set it?

i tried switching mine on & off but it does nothing & no display comes on the dash,

is there any common faults that would help me?

thanks, gordon.

push the slide switch on left stalk so that cruise control symbol illuminates on dash, then press rocker switch on the end of the stalk, remove foot from accelerator peddle, this engages the cruise control and sets the speed. Now you can use the rocker switch to increase or decrease speed, press firmly up or down and you will feel speed alter. If you brake, use clutch or use accelerator peddle you will disengage CC although the symbol remains illuminated on the dash. If you then press rocker switch again, cruise control is re-engaged. To switch off completely, use slide switch so that CC symbol on dash disappears.

no particular speed required that I have noticed but only tend to use it on motorways etc

Think that just about covers it.

i dont think mine is working then!, when i slide the switch no cruise control symbol illuminates on the dash,

i also noticed that the glove compartment light does not work & believe that this is on the same fuse, although the clock does work which i again believe is on the same fuse, any common problems on these or is it a trip to the auto electricians?

thanks for replying, gordon.

The cruise control light may have been disabled in the ECU although this does not affect operation.

Also it may not exist at all on early MK2 models again this does not affect operation.

Cruise control will work at speeds greater than about 20mph or 30kph if your johnny foreigner.
