paulandsue Posted April 30, 2009 Report Posted April 30, 2009 HiThis is our first post.We have a Ford Galaxy 1.9tdi 130ps. (54) Over the last few months it has lost power accelerating and at 3000 rpm the engine has a distinct rattling sound. We have had it on a diognistic computer that came up with nothing. But the mechanic suggested it was the Mass Airflow Sensor??? We then took the car to a diesel specialist, they once again connected it to a computer. This showed an error code 65535 this was in the instrument cluster fault, and not anything else. The computer also showed that the engine was supposed to be pulling 890 (not sure what) but was only pulling 530. they then swapped the MAF but this had no effect on the reading. fuel consumption has gone down to about 30MPG (it has never been brilliant) Can anyone shed any light on this problem??? The last thing we want to do is to take it to a main dealer and let them experiment at our expense. Paul & Sue Quote
seatkid Posted April 30, 2009 Report Posted April 30, 2009 Read the million and one posts on limp mode, MAF, turbo boost etc etc, Basically you need to find out why your turbo boost is not up to scratch. Vacuum pipes split, come adrift, collapsed, MAF sensor, Sticking turbo vane actuator, even a dirty air filter (would you believe!) Good luck. Some people fix it straight away (me :)) , others go round in circles for several months (Scorpiorefugee :) ). A calm logical approach is the key Quote
sepulchrave Posted May 1, 2009 Report Posted May 1, 2009 The 'rattling' sound you describe is probably the turbo recirc valve kicking in too early thereby denying you full boost and losing power. Quote
