neilcentry Posted April 28, 2009 Report Posted April 28, 2009 Hi, Im new to this site and have only had my Galaxy a couple of months. Using this forum i have "self diagnosed" a problem with the auxilliary heater and following details in earlier threads i have ordered a new glow plug and intend having a go myself.however i understand that the heater wll not fire up until the error codes have been cleared and that needs a Vag-com or similar.is there anyone in the oxfordshire area or not too far afield who would be able to help me out in return for a bottle of wine or a few beers?Any other advice on what im about to embark on would be most welcome. many thanks Quote

gregers Posted April 28, 2009 Report Posted April 28, 2009 iirc somewhere in the forum is a way of fooling the sensor(by the wipers/or behind 1 of the headlights) by spraying it so you can carry out the fix in warmer weather. Quote
JRWR Posted April 28, 2009 Report Posted April 28, 2009 I ordered the plug today from a dealer in Oxford over the phone and its supposed to be in tomorow. I thinks it was just over Quote

JRWR Posted April 28, 2009 Report Posted April 28, 2009 Well bearing in mind that mine is a 2001 model i would be happy to rely on the older software at those prices. Prob a better option that troubling others . Do you get details of what the error codes mean with the old software too or do you look those up?. Do you still have the link to your cable supplier?.. Its prob safer to go with them if youve already bought a working item from them. And are the downloads available from a website or are they also "ebay specials".... Will probably look at an ebay surf tomorow as well as a tub of icecream...lol.. Thanks NeilThis is the cable I bought: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=370161224677 It took a while to arrive as I ordered it without realising it was from the US. However, I can confirm it doesn't use 'opto-isolators' (apparently a 'bad thing'!) so it works with the latest 'free' version of VAG-COM. You do get details of 'some' of the error codes but not all (maybe 1 in 3?). But you do get all the error codes so you can then go and look them up yourself. It's just the software being tricky and trying to get you to buy the full version. The software is downloaded from here: http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/download/archives.html JRWR Quote

seatkid Posted April 30, 2009 Report Posted April 30, 2009 Hope the weather holds out. Latest prediction is for a early sizzling barbeque summer! So you wont need your heater for another 6 months! :) Quote
