gizmow Posted April 27, 2009 Report Posted April 27, 2009 hi all, another newbie here!the past week or two, my 2001 galaxy 2.3 vibrated anything over 55-60 mph! {recently had the drivers side drive shaft cv joint replaced !!} it does vibrate right through the steering wheel, which seems to stop when i take foot off the accelerator. now today, loud noise from front end and engine, gearbox seems to be rockin backward n forwards especially when i take up drive, and theres a slight burnt rubber smell !!!!! managed to limp it back home and left it there !! any ideas anyone??? got a mechanic comin over later on but in the meantime anyone got any clues wot it cud be?? goin to be expensive...i just know it!! Common failure. The roll restrictor is attached to the underside of the gearbox and the other end to the body of the car - this end is usually where the bolt shears. Its obvious when you look. There is no rear engine mount, the roll restrictor is a large bar that stops the engine gearbox rocking back and forth. Obvious when you look under the gearbox (without the engine cover) Some more information Quote

Engine Mount / Roll Restrictor - whilst there are technical differences its obvious your mechanics talking about the same part as seatkid. Quote
