Guest markmcrobie Posted March 16, 2004 Report Posted March 16, 2004 Just got my new car, and it has an RDS5000 stereo. I had a Fiesta before, which had an RDS3000. After I got the Fiesta I bought a standard-sized JVC CD player and the face-plate thingy from Halfords so it would fit in the Fiesta after I removed the 3000. I want a CD player in my new car, an Escort, and I presume I could just use the face-plate thingy from the Fiesta, but it looks pretty naff IMO. I'd much rather have a CD player that actually fits in the gap vacated by the 5000. I'm led to believe the only one that fits my needs is Ford RDS6000CD. I noticed 2 on E-bay, but I was wondering how much they were brand new, and where would I get one? Many thanks Mark McRobieGlasgow Quote
Guest nimrod Posted March 16, 2004 Report Posted March 16, 2004 To get a new one I would imagine a trip to the dealers would be in order? you could try a few car audio shops that may have a few lying around from when people have upgraded! my local ICE shop usually has a few OE head units on its shelves! Guest nimrod Posted April 19, 2004 Report Posted April 19, 2004 I want a CD player in my new car, an Escort, He wants the 6000 unit to fit in his Escort Dave which had a 5000 unit fitted so the 6000 should drop right in Quote
Dave-G Posted April 19, 2004 Report Posted April 19, 2004 I hear what you're saying nimrod, and I may be barking up the wrong tree, but I have seen past threads to the effect that head units from galaxy are "longer or deeper" than some other fords, and their fronts may be shaped differently I think Ka for example has a curve on its front to blend in with the "sculpture" of the surrounding area? :( hmm, I see the cause of confusion here...I refer to 53ghia's offer EDIT 23:45.....It's also easy to assume you run a shalaxy nimrod, given that you have one on display? but iirc you run 3 motors? :D Quote
NikpV Posted April 19, 2004 Report Posted April 19, 2004 Looking at some ads on ebay the Ka variants appear different from most of the others Quote
iainkirk Posted April 19, 2004 Report Posted April 19, 2004 I believe there are 3 versions. One in the Ka One in all other Fords One in the Galaxy The Galaxy one is FLAT on the front. All others are curved and the rear sections of the units are different sizes. Quote
