childminderscar Posted April 22, 2009 Report Posted April 22, 2009 hi have just brought a ford galaxy 1998 tdi for my job! but i have been driving it for a few days and now i went out to start my school run this morning and it wont start (turns over) have been told its the immobiliser on the car! and that i have a vw engine ! not sure what that matters! i have had new battery put in the central looking key but the key doesn`t seem to work either (little red doesn`t come on) is there a reset switch or just a wire to cut to turn the immobolisier turned off! childminder in great need of some help and advice ! ! !! ! ! big_kev Posted April 22, 2009 Report Posted April 22, 2009 If its not the immobiliser then it is probably the ignition relay. Check to see if there is a voltage at the cut-off relay top front of engine....pretty obvious follow the fuel pipe.......if no voltage provide temporary 12v direct feed...this will start you. Be aware however that if you leave the feed on it will drain the battery overnight. Quote
mk2vr6 Posted April 22, 2009 Report Posted April 22, 2009 manual or auto? do you have more than one key? what does the red light on the door do when you switch on the ignition and try to start it? when you say it wont start? does it try to? does the engine turn over? does the starter motor spin up?
