Guest m8internet Posted March 16, 2004 Report Posted March 16, 2004 I've just traded my Vectra in for a Mondeo 2.0 TDCi GhiaIronically, the same aspect of tyres are fitted 205/55 R 16 My Vectra was able to get 40K miles out of each Michelin Pilot HX MXM that was fiited, when fitted new to rear, then swapped to front when the fronts were removed when worn (basically meaning 2 new tyres every 20K miles) I looked at a Mondeo Zetec, and it too had the same MichelinsHowever, the Mondeo Ghia I have purchased has Continental Sport asymmetric fitted Over the last 3 years I've typically been paying Quote
Guest Andy Posted January 18, 2005 Report Posted January 18, 2005 all the fleet companies i deal with where the cars use 205/55 R 16 use either michelins or pirelli's.i think conti's are very good but even the fleet company my way which deal with the RAC vans have shired away from contis and specify michelins because of the excellent wear rate. :o :D :( Quote
Guest Rich Posted June 21, 2006 Report Posted June 21, 2006 I think it depends if you value longevity over grip. Obviously a softer tyre is going to hold the road better (well, generally) but wear faster.I get Auto Express mag fairly regularly (it's fine if you ignore the stupid political commentary), and every year they run a big tyre test. They subject all the major brands of tyre to the same set of tests -- wet grip, dry grip, noise, etc etc -- and finding the overall winners. It can be surprising. Vredesteins do consistently v.well, Hankook and Conti are usually up there too, Michelin and Pirelli are mid-range, and surprisingly Goodyear are very often bumping along the bottom. It makes for interesting reading. Quote
