Hi,

Any of you guys have any advise on climate display flashing for about 10 seconds on start up, I have read in the hand book that it is an error in the system, but every thing seems to work ok, heat, demist, the jet engine on low temps, etc, had the air con checked out last year, any clues would be much appreciated

cheers

Means a system fault that stops the climate control working fully. Usually low pressure due loss of refrigerant meaning that the aircon will not work (the compressor will not be allowed to switch on). (nb c/c only works above 5 deg C outside ambient)

Finding/fixing the leak is something that dealers are particularly inept at doing and accustomed to charging

I had this problem on mine - exactly as Seatkid says - faulty system, my problem was the evaporator (condenser ?) unit failed insomuch as it was leaking and could not pressurize and hence the climate control would not work and flashed to indicate a fault. Main dealer repair -

Thanks guys, most helpful, will have to think carefully about this, i will get the system recharged and checked out, but if the evaporator is leaking, no way is this being changed, as a new one was fitted in 2002 when i purchased the gal.

many thanks

There will be an under-bonnet sticker with the info on it, usually R134 (?) and a quantity in grams of gas. Lube oil for the compressor is also added.

Quite often the display flashes to indicate a flap problem(not saying this is the fault in your case)but I have seen it many times,if it is soloution is to gain access to & test/renew flap motor(dash out job!)WDS can diagnose exact fault.

Cheers guys,

Had the system charged with R134A, all is now well, no error display, no leaks (yet) and the air con works ok, I have been advised to run the air con regularly every couple of weeks for 5 minutes, R134A apparantly will find any weakness in the system and escape.
