scousedivvy Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 Hi guys....I'm a bit stuck - my drivers side rear door on my Mk1 Gal won't unlock. Tried jiggling the wires and after loosening rubber boot couldn't find any broken ones but now window won't open either!! Is there any way to remove door card from a closed door? Any way to unlock manually? Any help would be most welcome. Thanks in advance....Scouse Quote
me myself and I Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 this happened me not so long ago.If you open the front door you can see the wires/rubber boot.Get into the wires (I got my mecchy to do it as I am useless at electrics). You need to find the wire for the unlocking the door.Cut it and put a seperate feed to it to unlock it.the chances are the wire has broken somewhere along the line.Cheap wiring the downfall of these. You made need to cut numerous wires befor you find the right one as the speaker wires, elec window wires all run thru this boot. srafferty Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 This is really obvious but the question has to be asked, Have you tried all keys, allremotes if you have more than one and the unlocking switch? Quote
scousedivvy Posted April 12, 2009 Author Report Posted April 12, 2009 This is really obvious but the question has to be asked, Have you tried all keys, allremotes if you have more than one and the unlocking switch?yeah tried locking and unlocking via drivers door....all other doors locked and unlocked, also tried deadlocking etc. but no joy - it feels that there no connection to the lock from the handle....could be worse i suppose at least it's locked!! will try what me myself and I suggests tomorrow and post back thanks again for the advice fellas ;-) Quote
srafferty Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 Power to the lock is a Red/White wire according to TIS CD The rest of the loom to the lock are coloured Green/Yellow, Green/Blue, Yellow/Blue, Yellow and Brown. 6 in total Quote

stulid Posted May 10, 2009 Report Posted May 10, 2009 I looked at the wiring in my Mk1 GAL and there are no red and white wires but there is a brown and red one? Could this be the power lead? I have the same problem re the door not unlocking. Was going to take the door panel off but it wasn't moving! Quote
loopy Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 I had the same issue a few times, I find it helped by kicking it. Really...its a woman thing. Quote
bus_boy Posted June 3, 2009 Report Posted June 3, 2009 I've had similar issue on a Mk2 Gal. SYMPTOMS:Internal door pull went 'floppy' 1st ACTION:Locked the door internally by pushing the lever, then couldnt open the door manually from inside (kiddie lock on) or outside, or with the remote. Bah! FIX:Remove door panel from inside.Earthed brown cable to a new point on inside of door.Unlocked via remote.Bought new cable pull.Removed whole lock/latch assembly (need open for this).Drilled out rusted end end of cable pull from latch.Fitted new cable pull and put everything else back. I'd say "cut the brown wire". But as ever with these things, it's your decision, and your consequence! Andyb Quote

Andyb My rear passenger door is currently locked and won't open from inside or out, I would follow your suggestion above however I removed the solenoid from the door as its broken (ongoing central locking problem) but when the door was closed it will now not open again and I don't seem to be able to release it manually. I have removed the door card and felt around within the locking mechanism but nothing seems to release it. Does anyone have any thoughts please Quote
pentaxman Posted September 4, 2009 Report Posted September 4, 2009 I had the same issue with the rear passenger door lock. I removed the card with the door closed which can be done if you are careful.Reach inside the rear of the door construction around the lock area. You should be able to feel a small upright lever, push / pull on this to get the lock off then the door should open with the normal handles. I found my door had a broken fixings plate on the central locking motor mech. Quote
