bugzie Posted April 11, 2009 Report Posted April 11, 2009 Hi having slipping clutch problems and have booked into a Mr clutch quote under Quote
mk2vr6 Posted April 11, 2009 Report Posted April 11, 2009 be careful and check with them that its a new clutch kit they are fitting and not a recon! and read the small print before you say yes to the robbing bastards sorry mr clutch check what the warrenty is on their parts and workmanship? Quote
sepulchrave Posted April 11, 2009 Report Posted April 11, 2009 Don't do it, Mr Clutch are rubbish! There are lots of Shalaxys in use as taxis, just ask any taxi driver where they take theirs and whoever it is will have done plenty of Shalaxy clutches before, they're usually cheap enough too because taxi firms are so tight. Have you had a bad experience with Mr Clutch, the quote they gave seems very cheap.. well not cheap but cheaper than most other garages. yes I found that they fitted recon parts while they charged for new! the parts were under size and the clutch slipped worse than before they replaced it! an independant engineer found that they had skimmed the clutch plate and fly wheel, hence the reason for the slipping after they fitted 'new parts'! the pressure plate and the friction plate they fitted were from two seperate manufacturers tradeing standards took up the case and the local branch was shut down not long after they were found guilty and heavily fined I was refunded and all my bills payed inc the replacement of the clutch by a VW main dealer :D Quote

Buncers Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 I used Mr Clutch for my Galaxy. It has been replaced twice since under their warranty. The last time they said they had to put in a Ford clutch. It's still not quite right (judder occassionally). Only good thing is it is cheap and they do replace it if there is a problem and they are cheap. So, use them if they are local and you don't mind going back regularly for servicing. Quote
