Tailgate Electrics

I just thought I would add to the already large number of posts about Galaxy tailgate wiring faults. (00 Galaxy Ghia)

Yesterday I had a whole host of probems in the tailgate area

1) Reversing lights not working.

2) Fog lights not working.

3) Tailgate lock solonoid not working.

4) Rear wiper not working.

5) Fog light warning light showing whenever the lights were switched on even with the fog lights switched off.

6) Intermittent operation of the parking sensors.

All faults were traced to one broken thick brown wire in the RHS loom entry into the tailgate.

Wire repaired - All now back working.

Had the very same problem myself CHENZO - just fixed it (many thanks to this fantastic site) last week - broken earth wire (Brown) in the loom.

Used a small connector to fix it.

Noticed that the other smaller wires in the same loom had started cracking too but not to the same extent

Glad I searched and found this thread, I've been having problems with my galaxy, parking sensors not working, rear wiper being intermittent until it stopped working completely and the other day I noticed the reverse lights weren't working so I came on here looking for the answer.

 

I've just pulled the rubber conduit back and the reverse lights feed had snapped completely and alot of the other wires are breaking up.

 

What I wanted to ask was do Ford do a repair loom? or have I got to find a load of spare wires the right sizes and fix them that way?

 

I guess I know what i'll be doing tomorrow.
