hi i have a ford galaxy 2.8 si v6 v reg.

the car has a problem with the immobiliser and wouldnt even turn over.

i have bypassed the immobiliser relay and now it turns over and starts but then dies straight away.

just wandering if anyone had any ideas of what i could try as times are hard and i cant afford to take it to ford.

just a quick note it doesnt have a relay 30 relay 27 or relay 167 which most people are having the problem with.

any help would be apreciated

Oh yes it does.....It has an electric fuel pump - so it must have a fuel pump relay. But thats not the problem in this case I think. The immobiliser relay you overode is just a starter inhibitor relay.

The symptom you describe is what the immobiliser does when it doesnt recognise the key. The REAL immobiliser is the PATS system which communicates with the ECU. You cannot "override" the imobiliser. Check the reader coil (IRRC in the ignition barrel) which might have an intermittent connection.

"All VW based Imobilisers (Petrol or Diesel) will alow the engine to start and then cut it after 3 seconds. Only the Auto gear inhibitor will stop the starter from turning. If you have access to a 5052 or Vag com this will confirm that the key is not authorised or the ECU has been disabled. <snip>..... did you have to get under the steering wheel or pedal area to remove anything. The imobiliser is fitted up under there with wires going off to the reader coil and ECU. Have a check around that area".

Otherwise run a diagnostic (dealer or VAGCOM) - you might have a faulty crankshaft sensor for instance.
