Seatdriver Posted April 7, 2009 Report Posted April 7, 2009 I drive a Seat Alhambra 130 stylance 23,000 miles which comes with wide low profile tyres Dunlop 225/45/17. Two questions 1. Should there be any free movement in the steering wheel (engine running) as there is a slight bit on mine.2. The vehicle steering appears to have a mind of its own when driving ie it follows ruts is deflected by road crowns and it tramlines for fun. I have noticed its wearing the inner edge of both front tyres (first 1inch) but Seat tell me the tracking is within limits? My Sharan was wonderful to drive but this car is becoming a pain. Any ideas, anyone had similar issues oh and the tyre pressures are to the specified PSI. Quote

Movement could be due to a worn track rod end - quite common on Shalaxys. Any MOT centre will check this quickly for you. Did SEAT give you any geometry figures actually measured? I assume its under warranty... If not it may pay to go to a good tyre centre with laser alignment equipment and ask them to check it out. Quote
