Injector Pump Timing?

Hi everyone,

 

just been playing with my new toy, VAG Com, and found that at tickover the injector pump timng reads 2.6BTDC Specified Start and 2.9BTDC Actual to Start. Looking through Elsawin the way I read it the figures sould be between 7-9BTDC. Is this right or am I not reading this correctly. The reason I ask is that the car is a pig to start from cold but otherwise runs ok which I understand that this is the case when the timing is out.

 

If this is the case at those values can I just carry out the dynamic adjustment as per Elsawin or is this too far to adjust this way.

 

My car by the way is a 1998 Sharan 1.9 TDI AFN.
