norwichbluenose Posted April 4, 2009 Report Posted April 4, 2009 Hi Peeps, Does anyone know where I can get the self diagnostic system read? I have tried booking into Fords to get it check out so I can find which part has failed. But they can't fit the car in until after Easter. One of the sensors has gone in the coolant system leading to the fan not running at the higher speed and the after run fan not working either. This causes a warning to come on saying stop immediately and check coolant. The car is not over heating and its more of a pain than anything else but for peace of mind I would like it fixed before I drive down to Brittany at Easter. Andy B Quote
Bigjeeze Posted April 4, 2009 Report Posted April 4, 2009 I have had a similar fault - Check the plug that goes on to the back of the header tank - sometimes that is loosened and gives that fault. The fan - depending on whether you have one or two - probably only comes on when the Air con is on- the engine doesn't usually get hot enough ordinarily. The run on pump may just be knackered - again not uncommon. Or of course you do have a serious fault!!!!!! Quote
norwichbluenose Posted April 12, 2009 Author Report Posted April 12, 2009 Sorted after diagnosic checks, the fault came down to the resitance changing in the water expansion tank due to corrosion over the two electrodes a quick scub with a toothbrush cleaned them off and hey prsesto no more warning lights. My 2002 1.9TDi Galaxy has just started to do this. Overheating with stop message on the dash, temp going 130 degrees. When you say corrosion over 2 electrodes where are they located on the expnsion tank? I really cant afford to go to the fraud dealers anymore! I am hoping this is the cause of the overheating instead of the expensive water pump/cambelt change.... Great Forum, Great Guys & Gals wish FRAUD DEALERS visit the forum Kind Regards Shahed Quote

Great Forum, Great Guys & Gals wish FRAUD DEALERS visit the forum Kind Regards Shahed My 2001 1.9TDI has had similar problem but only when travelling under load and have lost coolant as well. I have had new thermostat and checked for water in engine but no signs. Is it possible that it is a problem with water expansian tank allowing water to escape or sensor problem not activating fans ? any ideas ? Chris Quote
norwichbluenose Posted June 1, 2009 Author Report Posted June 1, 2009 The two electrodes are located in the expansion tank towards the front I used a dental mirror to locate them. ( A new tank is Quote
