Pantsonfire Posted April 2, 2009 Report Posted April 2, 2009 Hi I'm new to this forum, and I'm about to pick up a brand new Galaxy Ghia. Does anyone know whether the Solar Reflect Screen interferes with screen-mounted Sat Nav systems? I have a Garmin 255W, not that sophisticated, but relatively new technology. Apologies if this has been covered before. Thanks Quote
Nick Posted April 3, 2009 Report Posted April 3, 2009 (edited) I have a older Garmin and the solar screen prevented that from working on its areial stick - have to use an external areial off to the side quarter light window. I would guess that the sucker mounted GPS would also suffer, but could you mount it on the quarter light window? Edited April 3, 2009 by Nick Quote

I understand that more modern devices with 'smarter' chipsets can acquire satellites even in less than ideal mounting positions. I'll see how I get on. Regards John Quote

For everyone's information, the Garmin Nuvi 255W works fine with the Solar Reflect screen, even mounted bang in the lower centre screen area. Therefore didn't even bother to try mounting on the quarter light. Quote
rayjay120 Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 if anyone has a problem with sat nav on a solar reflective windscreen it might be worth knowing that the black bit on the windscreen beside the rear view mirror is not affected by solar control so you should get a fix if you can mount the sat nav there.
