Maybe I was lucky.

 

I bought mine from Ford Direct a year ago and the dealer - CD Bramall in St Albans got the car within 3 days. It was 9 months old and was a press demonstrator from Ford in Dagenham.

 

There was an issue at the time with the description - it said it had a 6 CD changer with it. I queried this before the car arrived because I knew from the brochure that you couldn't have the Sat Nav, VHS Multimedia and a 6 CD Changer at the same time. But the sales guy said that if it was in the description then it would be there. Well when I went to look at it 3 days later it turned out it didn't have it! But I insisted they provided one and they got a local company to come and fit one under the passenger seat (a Sony model). I had to pay the local company direct but CD Bramall deducted the cost from the overall price - in addition to the

I have to admit it's quite a good place to source a car, it's just finding a decent dealer to do it through, some, lets say, see the opportunity to 'adjust' the price upwards, maybe to appear to give a bigger discount later, or just maybe because some cars on ford direct can be very reasonbly priced to start with and the dealer sees an opportunity to make a little extra. Like most things ford, no doubt when things go well it's great, but when they mess things up they are not too competent at sorting the mess out. Even with my experience i would be happy to use ford direct as a possible source again if the need arose, In my case replacing the lost car wasn't possible, too little time at no like for like replacements in the same price bracket. The cars do tend to be of a high standard though from what i've been told by those that have bought through it. personnally, i wish i could of been able to take the time for the right car to become available through ford direct.
