bigmac Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 I have just replaced the CV with the ABS ring and a new ABS sensor on my wifes 2.3 Galaxy Zetec 2001 and the ABS light is still on! Do I need to go to a Ford dealer to have it reset or am I missing something a little easier ? your help would be really appreciated. :( Thanks in advanceSteve Quote
chromedome Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 As far as I know you just drive above 20mph and it automatically resets. Double check the connections. Quote
bigmac Posted March 24, 2009 Author Report Posted March 24, 2009 Thanks for the response, the connector feels like it is pushed in correctly, drove the car up to 30mph, light still on, just paid Quote
mikej Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 Could try disconnecting the battery for 10 mins , not sure if it will work but has to be worth a try?? make sure you have your radio code first mind ! Quote
Bigjeeze Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 You did change the correct sensor I take it? There's one on either side as well as the rear. Quote
bigmac Posted March 24, 2009 Author Report Posted March 24, 2009 Thanks for the replies guys, what sort of code reader do I need and will it clear the fault codes ? Quote
Justice Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 I'm sure Vag Com would do the job but not the engine and that can be brought for just a few Quote
Bigjeeze Posted March 25, 2009 Report Posted March 25, 2009 (edited) I am no expert but I recently changed a sensor on my MK2 and I didn't need to do any resets or use VAG com - Once I fitted the new sensor and drove the car above 20mph the light went out - and now works as before. big_kev Posted March 25, 2009 Report Posted March 25, 2009 (edited) I am no expert but I recently changed a sensor I take it by "no expert" you mean at typing :( However I am inclined to think that you are correct and perhaps the wrong sensor has been changed. Bigmac.....are you sure the sensor was faulty ? Edited March 31, 2009 by Bigjeeze Quote

Bigmac.....are you sure the sensor was faulty ? Hi, the abs ring on the cv joint had broken and damaged the sensor, so replaced the cv with a new one and the sensor. OS fornt, NS seems fine with no movement. Edited March 31, 2009 by Bigjeeze Quote

OS fornt, NS seems fine with no movement. Vagcom or similar would help in at least identifying that it is indeed the OS front sensor. Also it would then allow you to swap the sensor with another and see if the fault followed the sensor or stayed with the wheel. It is also extremely handy in identifying other faults and issues and worth having at the price. Quote
