hi everyone i have a 2.8 v6 1999 gal.

1st of all im not sure if its called an anti-return valve but its mounted on the side of the air filter box (beneath the air intake hoses) via a rubber mount which it slides into and has a green connector plug attacted to it with breather tubes connected both sides, mine and for sometime now has been making a hollow pumping sound more noticeable at tickover but when i disconnect the green connector the pumping sound stops but engine still ticks over ok.

just wondered whats its proper name and a rough cost just so i know how much to save.

thanx guys sorry about the brief description only i cant see it in the haynes anywhere :P

just an update in case it might help someone else out 1 day.

still dont know what its called or what it does but took it out to clean anyway,

whilst playing around with it i noticed a jet screw in one of the ends so i got a small screwdriver and gave it a couple of turns to tighten it (not to tight).

anyway the pumping/popping sound has stopped, i can only presume the valve inside had worked loose over time.

its a purge valve, but does it affect performance if stuck open or closed?
