JeffMK Posted March 14, 2009 Report Posted March 14, 2009 Hi. New to this but hoping someone might be able to help me. I have just bought a second hand 1.9tdi Galaxy ghia which appears to have had the multimedia pack fitted (screens in headrest, mb-8000 visteon unit in console between front seats) However, the DVD player does not work at all. Press the power button and nothing happens Have also tried plugging something in to the power socket in the console and that is completely dead too !! I have turned the radio on as I believe these are wired in to the radio/cd changer unit so that has to be on for it to work ? I have tried swapping fuses in the main fuse box to see if it is a faulty fuse and that made no difference. Have tried to remove the centre console to have a closer look but am struggling to do so. Does anyone have any suggestions on what else I might check please. BTW I don't have the remote control nor any instruction manuals ! Thanks in advance for any help. Quote
NICKADAY Posted March 14, 2009 Report Posted March 14, 2009 hi i had similar problems before. you will need a remote to operate the system.first check the screens are connected okay at headrest as this will cause system not to work at all and if okay as in my case it was one of the screens not working which shuts everything else down. i hard wired my system (easy to do) so you are not reliant on stereo (it could be the power out on this is not working). although as i said before you must have the remote to start it up and operate properly. with regard the 12v socket it must be a fuse which as i recall is not clearly shown in the manual which one it is (i tried them all!). JeffMK Posted March 14, 2009 Author Report Posted March 14, 2009 Thanks very much for your help. I finally managed to figure out how the centre console came apart and discovered that the connector to the 12v socket had been disconnected, so I have now at least got power. ;) You have confirmed what I thought people had been saying on the forums re the remote control so it looks like I will have to make a visit to my local Ford dealership to order one, as it was missing when I purchased the car. Hopefully it will be a simple as that. Thanks again nickaday. Quote
