supremegermalene Posted March 8, 2009 Report Posted March 8, 2009 Hi, does anyone know where to get LHD headlights from for a good price? We are moving abroad in September and have been told car parts are extremely expensive where we are moving to so probably best to source from the UK before we move. We have to get new lights to register the car in the new country and the only place I have found them is on Ebay for Quote
gregers Posted March 8, 2009 Report Posted March 8, 2009 have you just looked under galaxy on ebay?dont forget to look under sharan/alhambra as well who knows the price might be chaeper. Quote

I thought the Galaxy ones were different but have to admit I haven't studied the others. G Quote
gregers Posted March 8, 2009 Report Posted March 8, 2009 i wouldnt really know wether they are the same, but bearing in mind a lot of the parts are shared across the cars you never know. Quote
big_kev Posted March 8, 2009 Report Posted March 8, 2009 you could do a search on ebay for ford galaxy Scheinwerfer or you could substitute vw sharan or alhambra instead of ford galaxy remember to allow EU countries in your search. This will bring up the German sellers. Quote
Richard gal Posted March 9, 2009 Report Posted March 9, 2009 They have to be galaxy, the others are a different shape!Having said that how are LHD galaxy different from RHD Galaxy, the "glass" is clear and smooth, unlike old proper headlights where the glass did the work, maybe you can alter them on the adjusters? insider Posted March 9, 2009 Report Posted March 9, 2009 The reflectors within the headlamp units will be different between LHD and RHD headlamps, they cannot be adjusted. Quote
big_kev Posted March 10, 2009 Report Posted March 10, 2009 They have to be galaxy, the others are a different shape! Just testing to see if anyone was paying attention  Can stick on beam deflectors not be used ? Also why does the car have to be registered abroad ?If I was moving there I would look to purchase a LHD vehicle and only use the RHD temporarily. RHD vehicles are unsafe to drive on LHD roads ( and vice versa ) its not worth the risk. Quote

We are suffering on the money side as work is scarce so anything we can do ourselves will be a great help. We only have 3 more months to register the car here, we are going to register here as to buy any galaxy here costs minimum of Edited November 25, 2009 by supremegermalene Quote
daveg Posted November 26, 2009 Report Posted November 26, 2009 I noticed in the book (for my 51 mks tdi) under the headlight alignment section said something like that they can be aligned to be the other type and to contact the dealer. I took that to mean there is some adjustment to make them point differently. But maybe it just mean the dealer will flog you some foreign ones? See if I can find the book tomorrow, too late to go out in the cold to find it Quote
Willie Krashitt Posted November 26, 2009 Report Posted November 26, 2009 I think the switch you are referring to is only for the xenon lights. "Normal" lights have to be masked. I have attached the masking details for normal lights for temporary driving on the right below.Hope that this helps, George.Galaxy_Headlamp_masking.doc Quote
