Aux Heater - Retro Fit Timer?

Hi all,

 

I've got a 1999 TDI Ghia-X. I know there is an option for a timer which activates the aux heater to pre-heat the car. The clock has 4 buttons rather than the normal 2.

 

Can this be retro fitted? Any ideas? I thought about fitted an alarm system with remote start but I don't really want to go down this route.

There is a lot involved with this.

 

2nd Battery under drivers seat required, probably additional wiring looms, some other stuff I can't remember.

 

It doesn't preheat the car , it preheats the water and engine ( really only applicable in very cold climates ).

 

Admittedly if you preheat the water then your heater will be blowing warm air when you first start the car rather than stone cold.

there is a kit available ive seen it on a website that someone posted, these kits can be obtained by the places that deal with hgv night heaters etc i think its webasto possibly.

i looked into it last year , they quoted around
