astudystar Posted February 25, 2009 Report Posted February 25, 2009 Hi all looking at getting a tow bar fitted to a 57 plate, new shape, Galaxy but garages keep telling me the parking sensors will be an issue with a fixed bar.I don't want to go to the extra expense of getting a detachable bar fitted. Has anyone got a fixed tow bar fitted that they can recommend? Are the swan neck bars the best option? Also thinking of getting a cycle rack that fits on the tow bar but again I have been told that the support plate may intefere with the sensors. Has anyone got any advice on the cycle carriers too, Thanks in advance Stu Quote

They must have fitted plenty without issue but obviously flag it as a possible problem just to cover themselves. Thanks again Stuart Quote
leewurf Posted March 26, 2009 Report Posted March 26, 2009 I have had a fixed Witter flange type fitted today with twin electrics and the parking sensors are completely unaffected. The twin sockets must only sit about 3 or 4 inches away from one of the inboard sensors but everything works absolutely fine. The fitter told me he has fitted tons of these with parking sensors and never had an issue. The fitter was recommended by my local Ford dealer, came out three days after the call and was the cheapest out of about 5 I called. All the others couldn't help until mid next week at the earliest. Collecting my first shed tomorrow. Quote

187469 Posted July 30, 2009 Report Posted July 30, 2009 I've just had a Witter towbar fitted to my 2007 Galaxy and it is great. If you live in the West London/Heathrow area, I can thoroughly recommend a fitter who charged me Quote
iksander Posted April 12, 2010 Report Posted April 12, 2010 Hi, I have just fitted a single electric fixed flange towbar plus a witter cycle rack mount (very much like that pictured, but single) to my 02 Galaxy and it DOES interfere with the reversing sensors. Any advice? I was thinking of disconnecting the middle 2 sensors to at least have the corner ones working... better something than nothing :) thanks for any tips... ianmoore28 Posted August 23, 2010 Report Posted August 23, 2010 Thats interesting, i just fitted my towbar this weekend with the dual sockets exactly as shown in pic above and it did interfere with my parking sensors. I've had to fit the sockets below and set back from the bottom of the bumper. The Protector plate (above the towbar) doesn't interfere at all. Testing it was fun though, i moved the dual socket around for about 10 mins before realizing that i was setting off the sensor! :) Quote
