jkspoff Posted February 19, 2009 Report Posted February 19, 2009 Having one of these fitted, I was wondering if anyone else had got one, or something similar. The great thing about this kit is that you can connect any MP3 player including iPod etc and its a bluetooth voice recognition hands free kit too. all through the cars speakers. Take a look at the link for more info, I will post some pictures when its fitted.http://www.parrot.com/uk/products/hands-free-car-kits Quote
Biscuit Posted February 20, 2009 Report Posted February 20, 2009 Hi jkI have a Parrot handsfree kit in my Gal, not the same model as yours but the CK3100They are a good bit of kit but it takes some getting use to when the radio cuts out when you receive an incoming call thoughDarrel Quote
jkspoff Posted February 20, 2009 Author Report Posted February 20, 2009 I have had the kit fitted today, all I can say is wow, its superb, connects to my ipod and Nokia automatically and allows me to view the same display as the ipod on the parrot screen, meaning that I can remotely navigate the ipod from the steering wheel controller that comes with the kit, so the ipod can be put out of view. The audio clarity from the telephone is superb, very clear through the cars speakers. The kit was installed for me by Halfords (all included in price) and I can highly recommend it, very neat and tidy, with the cable for the ipod going anywhere you want it, hidden away behind the trim. The Parrot screen can be easily removed for security too. Its a great all in one kit. Here are a couple of poor (in the dark on mobile phone) photos ! http://www.parrot.com/uk/products/hands-free-car-kits Quote
gregers Posted February 20, 2009 Report Posted February 20, 2009 looks nice a neat. bit off topic jkspoff,do you not have electric rear quarter opening windows? Quote
jkspoff Posted February 20, 2009 Author Report Posted February 20, 2009 (edited) Yes the offside has a rear electric quarter opening window, but not the nearside, I think its something to do with rear curtain airbag on the last of the Mk2's. The switch is just off camera. Edited February 20, 2009 by jkspoff Quote
gregers Posted February 20, 2009 Report Posted February 20, 2009 ok m8 just wondered as i couldnt see the switches either side of the ash tray. Quote
jkspoff Posted February 21, 2009 Author Report Posted February 21, 2009 Does anyone know: if I remove the base of the middle storage bin on the dashboard if it goes down behind the heater controls etc, if not if I drilled a hole in it whats underneath it ? As I am thinking about bringing the wires to the ipod up into the centre storage bin ? Quote
Biscuit Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 Hi JkIf you take the central storage bin out there is the bulkhead which you will be able to thread cables throughwhich is what i did when we fitted our parrot kitDarrel Quote
jkspoff Posted February 21, 2009 Author Report Posted February 21, 2009 Thats the central storage bin on the top of the dashboard ? Did you have to drill a hole through and is there quite a bit of space for cables ? Thanks Quote
Biscuit Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 yes the one on top of the dashno i didnt have to drill.you should have enough room for cables Quote
jkspoff Posted February 22, 2009 Author Report Posted February 22, 2009 Thanks for your help, I took the central bins out today easily and fed the cable up through the dash (slicing my hand at the same time !) and out through the hole into the middle bin, lot better for iPods etc for connecting to Parrot car kit. Also sorted out the wiring that Halfords numpty hadn't put in properly.I would highly recommend the Parrot MKI9200 car kit for phones and iPod etc. Quote
Bigjeeze Posted February 24, 2009 Report Posted February 24, 2009 I have a CK3100 and I find it really good. The only issue I have with it is when I use my phone ( HTC720) when dialling my voicemail it always dials so fast the mail system can't pick up the dialed digits. It works fine if I hold the phone in my hand and do it - even via the CK3100. That aside I think it is great. Quote
jkspoff Posted February 24, 2009 Author Report Posted February 24, 2009 The 9200 is also voice recognition, and it actually works ! It involves no training and picks up straight away all the voice activated commands meaning hands free operation. The menus speak so when dialling up the relevant command it speaks the menu so you don't need to take your eyes off the road. Clever system with upgradeable firmware as and when its released from Parrot. Quote
jkspoff Posted February 24, 2009 Author Report Posted February 24, 2009 Just one point to add, don't get Halfords to fit it though ! Quote
Smilge Posted February 25, 2009 Report Posted February 25, 2009 The kit was installed for me by Halfords (all included in price) and I can highly recommend it, very neat and tidy, with the cable for the ipod going anywhere you want it, hidden away behind the trim. Not what you said earlier JK .... :D Quote
jkspoff Posted February 25, 2009 Author Report Posted February 25, 2009 I know I contradicted myself, but once I got the radio out to move where they had put the iPod cable (they stated it couldn't be put in the top bin) I realised that it had been poorly wired up, the microphone wire was just hanging under the dash and the trim was left hanging off with wires poking out under the centre console, didn't notice any of this when I first posted ! All sorted now, should have gone back to complain really, but couldn't be bothered, the old saying: 'if you want a job doing well, do it yourself' ! Quote
ALARM MAN Posted April 10, 2009 Report Posted April 10, 2009 I know I contradicted myself, but once I got the radio out to move where they had put the iPod cable (they stated it couldn't be put in the top bin) I realised that it had been poorly wired up, the microphone wire was just hanging under the dash and the trim was left hanging off with wires poking out under the centre console, didn't notice any of this when I first posted ! All sorted now, should have gone back to complain really, but couldn't be bothered, the old saying: 'if you want a job doing well, do it yourself' ! EYE your local Halfraud dealers i have fixed many of there cock ups and there loose trim etc etc Parrot kit is good but with its problems they released it before all problems of IPod connectivity ( if you had to many songs on there ) it would lock up Freezing screens things are getting better with the updates but i am still alongway from fitting them for those reasons Hope yours is ok some are just not all  Regards Ian Quote
jkspoff Posted April 11, 2009 Author Report Posted April 11, 2009 Since the latest firmware update 1.11, the iPod connection works well, it no longer freezes up and the scrolling through tracks is a lot easier, I would now recommend it. The connection with the phone is 100% and the voice commands is about 90% accurate, it is an expensive kit, but well worth the money, once its fitted properly that is ! Quote
jkspoff Posted June 7, 2009 Author Report Posted June 7, 2009 Anyone else had one of these fitted yet ? Quote
GalaxySP Posted February 21, 2012 Report Posted February 21, 2012 Anyone else had one of these fitted yet ?Had one fitted to a Volvo XC70 a couple of years ago - great bit of kit and the bluetooth was very useful for friends being able to connect and play their music.I am getting one for my MkII TDI Ghia, how do the standard speakers hold up or does it need some amplification/better speakers?
