Danny Boy Posted February 16, 2009 Report Posted February 16, 2009 Hi ya Over the last few morning i've noticed the engine is jerking when approaching about 2k rpm when the engine is cold. This goes when it has warmed up. Has anyone got any ideas what might be causing this? Seat Alhambra19. TDI - X-Reg121k miles on the clock! Quote
Danny Boy Posted February 17, 2009 Author Report Posted February 17, 2009 UPDATE.... ...on the way to work this morning this jerking was constant, it was happening when idle, coatsing but worse when pulling away. There was also a distinct lack of power. I'm off work tomorrow so will venture to the garage (if it lasts that long), but can anyone suggest what might be the problem please? Cheers! Quote
Smilge Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 (edited) Danny there could be a number of things causing this but an easy and possible cause is the MAF (Mass Airflow Meter). If you disconnect this electrically (left hand side and part of airbox, just after the air filter box) and see if the symptoms improve when driving. If they do then you need a new MAF. If they don't then there are a number of things to do. Hope this helps. Edited February 17, 2009 by Bleeno Quote
Danny Boy Posted February 21, 2009 Author Report Posted February 21, 2009 Thanks Bleeno for that.... I checked the MAF (by disconnecting etc) and the problem still occured. I took the car to my garage and they plugged it in and it came up a code that could not be cleared regarding the Fuel Temp Sensor, this has been replaced...and again the problem still occured. SO back to basics he has serviced it and run engine treatment/cleaner through it....but the problem is still happening! Please if anyone has got any idea what this might be please please let me know. seatkid Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 Try a search for injector loom. IIRC there were reports of intermittent connection problems with the unit injector loom. IIRC someone cured his by taking the connectors apart, cleaning them and reconnecting. I also think that Ford made available a redesigned loom to address this problem. Quote
