mikej Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 Yet another question for you all , i have been offered a good secondhand Galaxy gearbox from a friend for nowt ( to keep as a spare ) , my question is this , i have a 2001 2.3 manual gal with the following number stamped on the box casing ( 9571-7F096 ) Now he swears this box he has although it has the same stamp on it is from a older model and a diesel at that ! can this be the same box as mine and can i use it if needed or is it likely to be different in some way , gearing etc , did they use the same box on different models or is he mistaken ?? thanksmike.. bofus Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 According to the Haynes book of fairy stories....... The 4th and 5th ratios are different Petrol Diesel4th 0.97 0.925th 0.81 0.67 Every thing else internally is the same. However, looking a various parts lists....I'd say the number you have quoted is a casting number not an assembly part number. I also can confirm that Ford bellhousing and the VW bellhousing bolt patterns are not identical. Quote
tiny Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 Contrary to popular belief there are only 2 types of gearboxes fitted to galaxys. Automatics And Ones that work! :( :16: Quote
