Don't watch Blue Peter now; when I did it was Val Singleperson (what rumours?), Chris somebody (Trace?) and someone else.

That 'someone else' was none other than Petra the Blue Peter dog. I believe that Christopher Trace was sacked because he divorced (ahh, the 1960s, things were so much better then) and is now, how can I put this without embarrassing the moderator, a bit thirsty a lot of the time. Shame, given the positive effect he apparently had on at least one young life.

1. I quite like this idea of flipping the screen and roof mounting the laptop. I endorse the concerns about the mounting security though! Where can we get hold of the screen inverting software? Is it a freeware program? Does it work OK with DVD playing software?

2. Power supply. I got hold of an 800 Watt inverter off Ebay for just under

If your laptop is running ATI graphics then the latest Catalyst drivers (4.3) have the ability to flip and rotate the desktop, built in now. The drivers are available at their website

Thanks for that one Howard, yes I use the ATI radeon on the Desktop and I have seen that facility. I think Nvidia graphics do the same thing. The laptop seems to be less superior in terms of graphics drivers and card so hence my asking. Thanks anyway.

Hi,

Whilst I have now fitted an incar dvd player and roof mounted screens I previously used a laptop with DVD player connected to a 240volt/12volt invertor.

We travelled to France often and took with us a Halfords 12volt car fridge which sat in the middle behind the driver and front passenger seats. I purchased some self adhesive velcro strips which I put on to the lid of the fridge and base of the laptop. The laptop then sat very securely on the closed fridge lid and when opened the screen sat up against the front seat armrests. You can easily secure it all further if you wish, by an additional strap!

Although it sounds flimsy it worked very well for many journeys, was cheap, simple, secure, removable and easily lifted to access the fridge.

I also purchased cheaply, one of those little units which allows you to plug your CD walkman through your car radio/cassette using a simple jack plug from the laptop headphone outlet to a cassette which fits into your car cassette slot (via Argos etc). This then gives you the sound out of your car speakers. In all the lot probably cost less than
