mrmadcats Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 I thought I'd run my air con, since they recommend doing it once a month. It was regassed last summer, so that part shouldn't be a problem. So I put it on with the blowers on full, and warm air came out. I experimented, by turning the heater setting up to highest, but with air con on, and the heat came out even hotter. Then, I turned the heater back down again, and finally the air started to come out cold. The act of turning the heater way up, then back down again, seemed to allow the cold air to come out. Why would this be? Quote
mrmadcats Posted January 26, 2009 Author Report Posted January 26, 2009 ..I should add that it's a 2001 2.3 vtec. Quote
bj2004 Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 sorry but what is theproblem ?air con dosnt mean cold air its air with moisture taken out you can have air con air at any temp i use the aircon in winter to get rid of the moisture in the cabin quicker Quote
insider Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 bj2004 is partly right - air con removes moisture but it does this by cooling the air. As the air cools it becomes denser and the water vapour can no longer be retained so it condenses out.If the air con and heater are both on, the air con firstly cools (and dries) the air entering the heater which then heats it up again. What was the heater set to when you first put the air con on and how long did you wait before turning the heater up?You need to have the temperature dial set to cold plus the air con can take a few seconds to respond before cold air can be felt (and obviously only with the engine running!). mrmadcats Posted January 26, 2009 Author Report Posted January 26, 2009 I initially had the heater set to the coldest position, and it was blowing hot for maybe a couple of minutes, before I started messing with the controls. Quote
Biscuit Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 the air con wont blow cold air if the outside temp is below 5 degrees C (or is it 10)? Quote
