oafcowl Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 Hi All, Wife locked the car last ight, when she went to unlock the car this morning the rear driver side door was unlocked, but all the others were locked!!. I went out to look in the dark tonight, I cannot hear the motor locking the door, consequently they all lock bar this one, any ideas anyone?? Could it be a broken/loose wire, motor or blown fuse ??? Help!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote
tiny Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 Broken wires in the door loom between the B pillar and the door are the most likely culprit Quote
oafcowl Posted January 16, 2009 Author Report Posted January 16, 2009 Cheers, I will have a look at weekend and let you know! Quote
oafcowl Posted January 18, 2009 Author Report Posted January 18, 2009 Had a look today at the wiring between door and B pillar as suggested, and the wires are broken, the trouble is that they are broken right in the fitting which it attached to the B pillar. I have removed the fitting and tried to remove the spade connectors but cannot get them out. The broken wire which is still attached to the fftting is about 1mm long so I have no chance of connecting them back with a connector block. Has anyone done this repair before, and if so how did you do it!! I was thinking maybe trying to solder a piece of wire onto the cable still attached to the fitting and then using a connector block. Any ideas??Cheers Quote
gregers Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 yeah id go for that,im sure ive read somewhere that they can be prised out, which is a pig to do no doubt,OR you could obtain a whole new connector block from a scrappy with longer wires and then connect them up? Quote
sepulchrave Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 Hey, if it were easy any idiot could do it! <_< Quote
oafcowl Posted January 21, 2009 Author Report Posted January 21, 2009 I'm in with a chance then! :D Just got a soldering iron so going to give it a go at the wekend when it's light!! I'll let you know how it goes!! Quote
oafcowl Posted January 26, 2009 Author Report Posted January 26, 2009 Soldered some new wires into the fitting and connected tem with a connector block, and hey presto! Central locking back and working !!! Quote
marcostig Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 hi not locking but my rear parking sensors stopped guess what?? broken wires under bumper just managed to solder on some new lengths ,must say they used some crap products /wire on these cars. Quote
oafcowl Posted January 27, 2009 Author Report Posted January 27, 2009 Cerainly seems like they did, to me it is as if the wiring is too short and tight, so over a period of time they just break, The speakers did it on the opposite rear side of the car around 4 years ago!" Quote
Pineappleman Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 Hi guys and gals I have the same problem with one of my rear doors having no central locking. I dont have any car skills really so just wondered what your opinions would be on the price if i took it to a garage? or how long they may need to fix it?. thanks in advance piney Quote
marcostig Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 dont take to garage will cost loads and rip you off try and find problem and sort it out with wire and a bit solder... Quote
gregers Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 i agree this really isnt something i think you should spend vast ammounts of your hard earned at a stealers,if it turns out it is the wires then this is really basic to sort out(if you can wire a plug :) )then this really isnt much harder.
