swanny1970 Posted January 14, 2009 Report Posted January 14, 2009 Hi All Just wondering if anyone could offer me a little help please. My Gal. has developed an awful squealing sound, resembling that of a flock of budgies under the bonnet! I believe it to be the fan belt tensioner, but am having problems removing it. Am pretty sure that it is just one bolt in the middle of the tensioner, which is allen key driven, but was wondering if anyone knows the correct size key to use? Also, has anyone else had any problems with this and did renewing the tensioner solve the squeal? I have replaced the belt and the tensioner wheel, still to be squealing away! Thanks in advance Peter Quote
Steven.Langdale Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 Hello Peter If you have a 2.3 Petrol I think you're looking to undo the wrong bit. The trensioner assembly is held on with a long bolt that you access behind the back of the AC compressor. Mine did not have an allen key hole either - just a bolt (and quite tight too) Undo the bolt and it virtually falls out. Takes about 10 mins to swap once yout under the car. I did mine recently because the screeching was driving me nuts! If you cant find the bolt, shout and i'll upload a pic. Steven Quote
