ianyerman Posted December 10, 2008 Report Posted December 10, 2008 does anyone have a diagram for the electric windows / door piller wires? the problem is my passangers window wont go down from any switch, but if i try to put it up you can see the dash lights dimming as it trys to go up (it aint down!!) if I press the button down about 30 times the window goes down and works fine untill i switch the keys off, then its back to pressing the button about 30 times and that might not even work. had a quick look for broken wires but couldnt see any. thanks Quote
bj2004 Posted December 11, 2008 Report Posted December 11, 2008 dosent sound like a wire try lubricating the edges of the window liquid soap may help or silicone spray if lights are dimming it shows motor is taking current Quote
Mirez Posted December 13, 2008 Report Posted December 13, 2008 If the lights are dimming then something is drawing a current, it won't be a direct short either as the fuse would blow so I would be more inclined to suggest you have a faulty motor/mechanism or its mis-aligned somehow rather then an electrical fault. Take the door panel off and have a look for missing bolts or foreign objects in the mechanism. As above soapy water may help but its more likely a something mechanical playing up rather then just sticking glass as a window motor takes a reasonable amount of force to stall it - unless its frozen of course? big_kev Posted December 13, 2008 Report Posted December 13, 2008 had a quick look for broken wires but couldnt see any. I would suggest looking harder ! Try wiggling the wires where they pass through the gaiter into the door at the same time as pressing the button. Quote
big_kev Posted December 13, 2008 Report Posted December 13, 2008 wigglingis that a word ? wiggle ......... Definition verb to (cause to) move up and down and/or from side to side with small quick movements: He tried wiggling the control stick but nothing happened. She wiggled her toes in the water. Her hips wiggle as she walks. pat19581 Posted December 13, 2008 Report Posted December 13, 2008 i had a similer problem it was a frayd wire it runs in the track from top to bottom its like a brake cable wire you get on a bike Quote
ianyerman Posted December 14, 2008 Author Report Posted December 14, 2008 thanks guys for the help but on the lights dimming when pressing the button is on the way up and nothing when pressing down? Quote

Try wiggling the wires where they pass through the gaiter into the door at the same time as pressing the button. i would definitely look harder given you get nothing in one direction - the lights dimming ion the other only indicates current being drawn - maybe not in the motor but in a partial short in the wires Quote
f0ster Posted December 15, 2008 Report Posted December 15, 2008 hello could it not be a faulty switch, contacts burnt out or dirty, if you gain access to the window motor wires, there will be two of them, put a bulb accross themand operate the switch, the bulb should light in both directions of the switch, or try the switch from the other side, Quote
